Each study has a usefulness score out of 100 (rubric version 4.0). Tap a score to see what makes it up.
Highest usefulness score first. Studies without a score come last.

The life expectancy of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) has increased, yet we have noted that development of a typical Alzheimer disease dementia syndrome is uncommon.

In the last 2 years, there have been 3 successful trials of antiamyloid antibodies in Alzheimer disease (AD): aducanemab, now controversially US Food and Drug Administration-approved under the accelerated approval pathway1; lecanemab, now FDA-approved2; and donanemab, now going through the approval process.3 All 3 share a common broad mechanism, that is, antibody-mediated removal of β-amyloid (Aβ) from the brain, and this is almost certainly the basis of their therapeutic action.4 When used in the earliest symptomatic stages of AD, all have modest clinical effects, all clear Aβ from the brain, and all show evidence for some changes in molecular markers believed to be downstream of Aβ accumulation in keeping with disease modification.4 However, all these drugs-and several other antiamyloid immunotherapies that failed to show positive effects in clinical trials (e.g. bapineuzemab and gantenerumab)5,6-have the troubling adverse event of antibody-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA).
-
Alzheimer's disease is defined by the presence of β-amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tau tangles potentially preceding clinical symptoms by many years.
-
Alzheimer's disease (AD) primarily affects older adults.
-
Host responses to anti-amyloid-β (Aβ) antibody therapy are evident in neuroimaging changes and clinical symptoms in a subset of clinical trial subjects receiving such therapy.
-
Visual assessment and semiquantitative analysis provide highly congruent results, thereby enhancing reader confidence and improving scan interpretation.

Dual-phase amyloid PET is considered a useful protocol to study patients with cognitive impairment.
-
Corticobasal syndrome (CBS) is associated with diverse pathological substrates such as tau, prion protein, transactive response and, rarely, alpha synuclein.
-
For 50-59 greater medial temporal atrophy and flortaucipir uptake was observed in the typical compared with atypical phenotype.
-
In this study, we sought for a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) metabolomic fingerprint in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients characterized, according to the clinical picture and CSF AD core biomarkers (Aβ42, p-tau, and t-tau), both at pre-dementia (mild cognitive impairment due to AD, MCI-AD) and dementia stages (ADdem) and in a group of patients with a normal CSF biomarker profile (non-AD) using untargeted 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy-based metabolomics.

Synaptic degeneration is a major hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and the best pathological correlate of cognitive dysfunction.
-
CSF AβR better agreed with Amy-PET compared to CSF Aβ42 (Cohen's K 0.431 versus 0.05).
-
We found a significant increase in the concentrations of ZnT3, GluA3, and Dynamin1 in AD (p = 0.002) and of ZnT3 and Dynamin 1 in DLB (p = 0.001, p = 0.002) when compared to SCD patients.
-
Lower levels of NFL, NG, Aβ42, and t-tau were found in patients with iNPH versus SIVD, while YKL-40 and p-tau were similar in the two diseases.
