Harmonizing tau positron emission tomography in Alzheimer's disease: The CenTauR scale and the joint propagation model
Antoine Leuzy, Lars Lau Raket, Victor L Villemagne, Gregory Klein, Matteo Tonietto, Emily Olafson, Suzanne Baker, Ziad S Saad et al.. Alzheimer's & dementia : the journal of the Alzheimer's Association, 2024-07-23
Topic: Plasma and spinal-fluid biomarkers
A strong linear relationship was observed between CTR values across brain regions. Using the JPM approach, CTR estimates were similar to, but more accurate than, those derived using the linear regression approach. Preliminary findings using the JPM support the development and adoption of a universal scale for tau-PET quantification. HIGHLIGHTS: Tested a novel joint propagation model (JPM) to harmonize quantification of tau PET. Units of common scale are termed "CenTauRs". Tested a Centiloid-like linear regression approach. Using five cohorts with head-to-head tau PET, JPM outperformed linearregressionbased approach. Strong linear relationship was observed between CenTauRs values across brain regions.

How this study scored 46/100
Published in a leading specialty journal. Scored zero for study design, sample size, effect reported, studied in people and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 26 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 46 out of 100.
