Key findings

Why it matters

This systematic review of 38 studies found that plasma p-tau217 had the highest diagnostic performance for Alzheimer's disease, followed by p-tau181, GFAP, NfL and the Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio, and that combining markers improves detection. The review supports early diagnosis but notes that diagnosis is often made late and does not report a treatment or cure.
