Rehmannioside A improves cognitive impairment and alleviates ferroptosis via activating PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 and SLC7A11/GPX4 signaling pathway after ischemia
Fu C, Wu Y, Liu S, Luo C, Lu Y, Liu M, Wang L, Zhang Y et al.. Journal of ethnopharmacology, 2022-01-26
Topic: Brain proteins, microglia and lab models
Materials and methods Differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in patients after cerebral ischemic stroke were revealed by a RayBio protein array. Results Compared with model group, the cognitive impairment and neurological deficits of Rehmannioside A group were significantly improved, and the cerebral infarction was reduced in MCAO rats. Further research indicated that the expression of p-PI3K, p-Akt, nuclear Nrf2, HO-1 and SLC7A11 in Rehmannioside A group was significantly higher than model group. These findings provide valuable insight into the pathogenesis and therapeutic target of ischemic stroke.

How this study scored 40/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design, sample size, effect reported, studied in people and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record and multi-centre collaboration, so those were left out: it earned 23 of the 58 points we could judge it on, which is 40 out of 100.
