✓ Peer-reviewed alzhub usefulness score 46 out of 100. Cognitive tests and assessment

Topic: Risk, prevention and care in population studies

Background Frailty is commonly considered as a syndrome with several symptoms, including weight loss, exhaustion, weakness, slow walking speed and physical inactivity. It has been suggested that cognitive impairment should be included in the frailty index, however the association between frailty and cognition has not yet been fully established. Objective To investigate cross-sectionally whether frailty is associated with cognitive impairment or clinically diagnosed dementia in older people.

Key findings

Why it matters

This population-based study of 654 people aged 76 to 100 examined whether frailty was associated with cognitive impairment or diagnosed dementia at one point in time. It is a cross-sectional association study and does not test any treatment, cure, or prevention.
