Sleep-related behaviors in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies
Alberto Raggi, Walter Neri, Raffaele Ferri. Reviews in the Neurosciences, 2015-01-01
Topic: Brain imaging, connectivity and assessment
Prevalence studies suggest that Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) are the most common dementing illnesses in the elderly. The aim of this narrative review was to provide data on sleep-related behaviors in AD and DLB. This paper contains arguments, with a clinical approach, on both circadian rhythm changes and dissociated states of wakefulness and sleep in these two conditions.
Key findings
- Prevalence studies suggest that Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) are the most common dementing illnesses in the elderly.

How this study scored 36/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design, sample size, effect reported, studied in people and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 20 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 36 out of 100.
