Gut Microbiota Modification via Glucagon-like Peptide-1 with Beneficial Neuroprotective Effects
Fatemeh Sayehmiri, Mohammad Samadian, Ashraf Mohamadkhani, Abbas Tafakhori, Somayeh Haghighat, Aryoobarzan Rahmatian, Mohammad Ali Mohammadkhani, Hamid Reza Fazli et al.. Middle East journal of digestive diseases, 2022-04-30
Topic: Gut, metabolism and diet
The results showed that intestinal expression of GLP-1 1 could reduce the intestinal pathogenic genus such as Enterobacteriaceae and was obviously associated with a greater number of beneficial genera such as Lactobacillus and Akkermansia. Also, the neuroprotective effects of Clostridium butyricum with GLP-1 1 in a mice were approved. Therefore, the modulation of the intestinal microbiota, mediated by an increase in the intestinal GLP-1 1 level, consequently improved cognitive function. In this review, we have indicated that the gut microbiota, by stimulating the expression of the intestinal hormones like GLP-1 1, and also with a beneficial effect in inhibiting some involved genes in inflammation, can declined the development of cognitive disorders.

How this study scored 70/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal, and it is a systematic review of all the studies on the question. Scored zero for sample size, effect reported and studied in people because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 39 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 70 out of 100.
