Function-Focused Person-Environment Fit for Long-Term Care Residents With Dementia: Impact on Apathy
Ying-Ling Jao, Wen Liu, Habib Chaudhury, Jyotsana Parajuli, Sarah Holmes, Elizabeth Galik. The Gerontologist, 2021-04-03
Topic: Health services, long-term care and technology
Findings revealed that greater P-E fit, specifically indoor environment, was significantly associated with lower apathy after controlling for age, gender, and years living in the facility. Yet, the association became not significant after controlling for individual physical function. DISCUSSION AND Findings support the association between function-focused P-E fit and apathy, but the association is no longer significant after physical function is adjusted. Future research may explore other aspects of P-E fit and the impact of social and organizational environment on apathy in dementia.

How this study scored 57/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal, and it is a snapshot of people at one point in time. Scored zero for effect reported and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 32 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 57 out of 100.
