✓ Peer-reviewed alzhub usefulness score 46 out of 100. Brain tissue and pathology

Topic: Amyloid, tau and blood-test diagnosis

Background The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is a heterogeneous cortical structure that supports higher cognitive functions, including working memory and verbal abilities. The PFC is vulnerable to neurodegeneration with healthy aging and Alzheimer disease (AD). Objective We used volumetric magnetic resonance imaging to determine whether any region within the PFC is more vulnerable to deterioration with late aging or AD.

Key findings

Why it matters

This volumetric MRI study examined whether any region within the prefrontal cortex is more vulnerable to deterioration with late aging or Alzheimer's disease. It is descriptive imaging research and does not test a treatment, cure, or prevention.
