Psychometric and adherence considerations for high-frequency, smartphone-based cognitive screening protocols in older adults
Louisa I Thompson, Alyssa N De Vito, Zachary J Kunicki, Sheina Emrani, Jennifer Strenger, Caroline Nester, Karra D Harrington, Nelson Roque et al.. Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society : JINS, 2024-09-20
Topic: Brain imaging, connectivity and assessment
Findings showed overall high compliance (89.3%) across M2C2 sessions. Average compliance by time of day ranged from 90.2% for morning sessions, to 77.9% for afternoon sessions, and 84.4% for evening sessions. There was evidence of faster reaction time and among participants who expected to receive performance feedback. We observed excellent convergent and divergent validity in our comparison of M2C2 tasks and traditional neuropsychological assessments. This study supports the validity and reliability of self-administered, high-frequency cognitive assessment via smartphones in older adults. Insights into factors affecting adherence, performance, and protocol implementation are discussed.

How this study scored 55/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 31 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 55 out of 100.
