Key findings

Why it matters

This doctoral thesis quantified protein biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid and blood to support differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, finding that UCH-L1 had the best diagnostic performance for distinguishing Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia from controls, followed by NfL and TAU. The work is about diagnostic tools and does not report a treatment, prevention or cure for Alzheimer's disease.

Total 29 of 100.26 of the 89 points we could judge = 29 of 100

Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design, sample size, effect reported, studied in people and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, senior author's track record and institution's track record, so those were left out: it earned 26 of the 89 points we could judge it on, which is 29 out of 100.
