Deep residual inception encoder-decoder network for amyloid PET harmonization
Jay Shah, Fei Gao, Baoxin Li, Valentina Ghisays, Ji Luo, Yinghua Chen, Wendy Lee, Yuxiang Zhou et al.. Alzheimer's & dementia : the journal of the Alzheimer's Association, 2022-02-09
Topic: Plasma and spinal-fluid biomarkers
Significantly stronger between-tracer correlations (P < .001) were observed after harmonization for both global amyloid burden indices and voxel-wise measurements in the training cohort and the external testing cohort. We proposed and validated a novel encoder-decoder based deep model to harmonize amyloid PET imaging data from different tracers. Further investigation is ongoing to improve the model and apply to additional tracers.
Key findings
- Significantly stronger between-tracer correlations (P < .001) were observed after harmonization for both global amyloid burden indices and voxel-wise measurements in the training cohort and the external testing cohort.
- We proposed and validated a novel encoder-decoder based deep model to harmonize amyloid PET imaging data from different tracers.
- Further investigation is ongoing to improve the model and apply to additional tracers.

How this study scored 55/100
Published in a leading specialty journal. Scored zero for study design, effect reported and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 31 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 55 out of 100.
