Apathy and intrinsic functional connectivity networks in amnestic mild cognitive impairment
Soo Hyun Joo, Chang Uk Lee, Hyun Kook Lim. Neuropsychiatric disease and treatment, 2016-12-23
Topic: Brain imaging, connectivity and assessment
We observed that the FCs of the DMN were less and those of CEN were more in the aMCI group than the CON group. Total IA score was negatively correlated with FCs of the anterior cingulate within the DMN, and positively correlated with FCs of the middle frontal, inferior frontal, and supramarginal gyrus within the CEN in the aMCI group. Our findings suggest that distinctive patterns of association between apathy and FCs in the DMN and CEN in the aMCI group might reflect the putative role of functional network change in the development of apathy in aMCI.
Key findings
- We observed that the FCs of the DMN were less and those of CEN were more in the aMCI group than the CON group.

How this study scored 39/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design, sample size, effect reported, studied in people and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record, multi-centre collaboration and free to read, so those were left out: it earned 22 of the 56 points we could judge it on, which is 39 out of 100.
