An App-Based Mindfulness-Based Self-compassion Program to Support Caregivers of People With Dementia: Participatory Feasibility Study
Goodridge D, Reis N, Neiser J, Haubrich T, Westberg B, Erickson-Lumb L, Storozinski J, Gonzales C et al.. JMIR aging, 2021-11-26
Topic: Health services, long-term care and technology
Results Our findings suggest that our app or program meets the feasibility criteria examined. Emotional well-being increased significantly (P=.04), and emotion-based coping significantly decreased (P=.01). Conclusions Although there were no significant changes in caregiver burden, we were encouraged by the increased emotional well-being of our participants following the completion of our program. We also conclude that our app or program demonstrated feasibility (ie, acceptability, practicality, implementation, and efficacy) and can provide a much-needed resource for primary caregivers of persons with dementia.

How this study scored 50/100
Published in a peer-reviewed journal. Scored zero for study design, effect reported and randomised / blinded because the record does not state it. We have no data on journal's citation record, times cited, citations per year, impact for its field and year, cited by studies here, still being cited, senior author's track record, institution's track record and multi-centre collaboration, so those were left out: it earned 29 of the 58 points we could judge it on, which is 50 out of 100.
