The MMSE score, MoCA score, serum miR-27a-3p level, cerebrospinal fluid miR-27a-3p, Aβ42 levels and Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio of AD patients in mild group and moderate-to-severe group were all lower than those in the control group, and the moderate-to-severe group were lower than the mild group (all P < 0.05);the serum NEAT1 level, SUVR, and cerebrospinal fluid NEAT1 and BACE1 levels were higher than those in the control group, and the moderate-to-severe group were higher than the mild group (all P < 0.05).

Psychosis in Alzheimer disease differentiates a subgroup with more rapid decline, is heritable, and aggregates within families, suggesting a distinct neurobiology.

Abnormalities in the cerebral microvasculature are common in Alzheimer disease (AD).

Somatostatin, widely distributed in human cortical brain regions, acts through specific high affinity somatostatin receptors (SSTR1-5) to exert profound effects on motor, sensory, behavioral, cognitive and autonomic functions.

It has been hypothesized that increased expression of proinflammatory cytokines mediate a variety of central nervous system disorders such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, cerebral ischemia, spinal cord injury, HIV encephalopathy and chronic pain.

Monoamine oxidase (MAO) histochemistry has been performed in brains from patients with dementia of Alzheimer type (DAT) and aged controls.
